Great place. We go every year. Facilities are a bit rustic, but the location (near the ringside market, the Co-op, gas station, and beaches) can't be beat.

Walking distance to one of the best beaches in Canada in my opinion. Camp sites little crammed but didn't bother me. Camp spots include a fire pit. Fire wood too expensive ($8 a bundle good for one hr max). Can buy ice on site ($3.50). Co-op groceries and main camping supplies next door.

Playground [swing] is *very* dangerous for pre-teen kids. Parents beware! I witnessed 2 kids getting badly hurt, and heard many parents refuse to allow their kids to use the playground.

Our first time on Hornby and decided to camp here because of vicinity to Tribune Bay. Booked well in advance and asked for a great site as it was our first time and what a nightmare from the beginning. They gave us one of the smallest worst sites in the park. Basicly a dirt ground that barely fit our vehicle and 1 tent beside a dirt road that people drive to fast on. Unbelievably at $38 a night and you have to pay $1 every 2 minutes for a shower in a dirty stall. They have a big sign stating quiet after 10pm and no loud music anytime. Well the have done nothing about the idiots blasting crappy music all day and having a drugged up drunken time yelling at each other all night. This is probably our last time ever staying at this campground and even with the vicinity to the beach totally NOT worth it. Would NOT recommend for families or anyone really unless your a jerk looking to ruin everybody's camping experience as they do nothing about partying, loud obnoxious people. If that's your goal ya then stay here. Worst. Campsite. Ever. They should visit the Lake Cowichan to learn how to properly run a campground. You can grab a forestry site there for half the price and enjoy your camping experience.

Older lady in front office (former owner? Manager?) could be much more hospitable and accommodating.

Pit toilets are raunchy! I used the outhouses at big trib beach instead.

But they are fully booked every year, so why should they care to improve on the above, right? I love the island and will come back, and see the other spots- bradsdadslands, or other?

Great location! Near awesome beaches, hikes, co-op grocery store, and cafes and foodstands.

Fine place during the day but don't try to sleep for the first few hours of 'quiet time'. Couldn't sleep for 6 nights in a row due to rowdy loud drunk people regardless of calling in night security and having daily discussions with front staff. Quite crowded spaces generally, lots of neighbors. Good place for small kids to bike around and walking distance to main beach. I won't be returning.
